Start writing
Open the document and use what you have
Choose Start credit memo or Start quarterly review. The document opens immediately. Type your own title, including Prescreen, and work in any section. No Deal ID, date or upload is required to start.
Quick fill is optional. It edits the same fields shown in the document. Choose a section or a table row, and complete only the inputs you need. The cover and risk-rating section share rating values; additional notes remain separate. Use the section list to move around; both documents have a section menu on smaller screens.
Supporting sections. Use the Attachments choices in the memo to include or leave out each section. Leaving one out retains your draft content and removes that section from Word. Credit Report Analysis and the completeness checklist remain. Explain exclusions in the existing checklist.
Information from different sources. Type or paste narrative from an email, Word document or PDF. Paste an Excel range into a paragraph to preview a new editable table, or choose Insert table and Start blank. Add or remove table rows and columns as needed. Insert or paste a PNG/JPEG for charts and complex tables. Write narrative above each exhibit and an optional source or as-of date below. These notes are manually entered. The Credit Report Analysis controls can replace the sample picture with a table or image and restore the original.
Download Word exports the authored draft with the supporting sections you included. For the memo this uses the bank template. The quarterly review includes the monitor Summary fields, editable financial and reporting schedules, pasted charts and selected appendices in a landscape Word document.
Use Working file → Download working file before closing the window. Reopen it through Resume saved work. Earlier Studio drafts and full-template working files also open here. Combined legacy memo narratives stay available under Saved text for your choice of placement. There is no autosave.
Sources & analysis opens the existing evidence and calculation tools. Use Back to document to return. Add an explicit review date through Document details before importing a quarterly workbook. In a QPR, Quick fill → Use workbook data previews entries you can choose to copy. Existing PM edits and deliberately cleared values are kept; unchanged earlier copies can be refreshed from a new workbook. Copied values retain source notes and remain draft values for review.
QPR appendices and working notes. Choose supporting appendices at the end of the document. Leaving one out keeps its draft. Monitor Notes for PM/RM stay out of Word unless you explicitly include that appendix.

Optional source-analysis workflow
Within Sources & analysis, the button at the top points to the next evidence or review control. These requirements do not block writing or downloading a draft. Needs attention shows blockers and warnings. Advanced details keeps every underlying work area available.

01
Before you begin
Use a desktop browser
Use current Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome. Keep the working tab open until you download a checkpoint or finish.
When using source imports
For a credit memo, the Studio receives only one HBF workbook with the PM-selected tabs completed and one or more validated Opus JSON packets. Original documents stay in approved internal Opus, with no more than five originals per chat.
Know the local boundary
The Studio does not autosave or send deal data to a runtime service. Closing the tab can discard work that was not explicitly downloaded.
Use fictional practice data
Start with the supplied synthetic demo or practice files before any controlled shadow-pilot review.
02
Prepare a new, renewal, or modification memo
- Add documents.Start the session, select each individual underwriting tab the PM used, and add the HBF workbook; only Exposure is universal and unused tabs may remain blank. Complete the exact required-document checklist. For each displayed B01–B06 batch, use its generated prompt with the current Deal ID and listed documents—never a placeholder ID—then add its validated JSON to the Studio.
- Confirm what matters.Work the exception-first queue from top to bottom. Resolve same-scope conflicts with one controlling value and a written reason; accept or reject every remaining candidate.
- Add PM judgment.Complete transaction changes, repayment, selected downside, risk/mitigant chains, conditions, rating judgment and every applicability decision.
- Review draft.Review the officer analysis and follow its evidence links. Refresh analysis made stale by changed facts or scenarios, then use Back to document to finish the complete bank-format memo.
- Download Word.Download the required editable Word memo at any time. It remains visibly marked Draft until the exact readiness controls and all four current-revision attestations pass; PDF and review files are optional.
Show the exact B01–B06 original-document checklist
Only applicable documents appear in the Studio. Each displayed batch contains no more than five originals; empty batches are omitted.
B01 · Request and existing creditCurrent request or project memo; proposed terms; most recent approved credit memo and current loan documents for a renewal/modification; ownership and entity chart for a new deal.
B02 · Financial and operatingLatest fiscal-year financial statements; current interim financial statements; current debt schedule; current sales, closings and backlog report; current inventory or lot-control report.
B03 · Internal, covenant and borrowing baseInternal exposure, balance, maturity and rating report; internal deposits and profitability report; current covenant compliance support; current borrowing-base certificate; current unit-line detail.
B04 · Collateral and project foundationCurrent appraisal or evaluation; environmental report; flood determination; title or lien support; project budget and sources/uses.
B05 · Execution and guarantor supportCost-to-complete and execution support; current guarantor personal financial statement; guarantor liquidity verification; guarantor global debt and tax support.
B06 · Market evidenceDated third-party market support.
A live deal starts with only Exposure selected. Every memo still requires the request, proposed terms, internal exposure report, current and year-end financials, debt schedule, sales/closings/backlog and inventory/lot-control report. Each additional individual tab adds only its relevant supporting documents.
Review Readymeans the workflow controls and PM attestations passed. It does not mean Credit approved the request or independently validated the source package.
03
Complete a quarterly review
- Add documents.Start a Quarterly Monitor session, enter an explicit review date and add the supported v2.1-family workbook.
- Confirm what matters.Verify the source fingerprint and four distinct cutoffs. Review formula classifications, every retained exception, the 14-field core and the separately labeled supplemental observations.
- Add PM judgment.State what changed, what needs action and what the PM concluded. Record the rating rationale, contrary evidence, owners, due dates and verification path.
- Review draft.Challenge the officer-facing summary and select the intended output profile. Detailed financial and balance-sheet analysis remains available even when omitted from the executive output.
- Download Word.Download the required Word monitor. Complete the unchanged final controls and attestations for the review-ready version; schedules, PDF, review pack, action register, rollup row and checkpoint are optional.
Review Package Completemeans the monitoring workflow passed. It is not a rating approval, covenant waiver or automated credit decision.
04
Two-minute Credit Officer challenge
1What exactly is requested or recommended?
2What repays the bank, by how much and when?
3Which assumption breaks first in downside?
4Can each decision-critical number be traced to a source or named calculation?
5Are conflicts, contrary evidence and exceptions still visible?
6Do conditions name timing, owner and verification?
Stop rule: if an unsupported fact escapes, a conflict disappears, a calculation cannot be reproduced, or a blocker receives a completion label, stop the pilot and use the rollback procedure.
05
Save, clear and resume safely
- Open Download Word, expand Optional supporting files and select Save checkpoint.
- Store the JSON file only in an approved location.
- When returning, select Resume saved work and choose that JSON file.
- The Studio checks the envelope, size, schema and SHA-256 corruption digest before replacing the current session.
- When finished, download required outputs, select Clear local session, then close the tab.
Important: the checksum detects accidental corruption; it does not authenticate who created or modified the file.
06
If something goes wrong
Workbook rejectedUse the supported workbook version. Recalculate in Excel, save cached values, remove external links or formula errors as instructed, then re-import.
Packet rejectedKeep one matching Deal ID, one to five manifested sources, approved field IDs and valid source locators. Regenerate strict JSON in the approved internal chat.
Checkpoint rejectedDo not edit the JSON. Return to the last intact v1.1 checkpoint or rebuild from the source package.
Tab closed or refreshedResume the latest downloaded checkpoint. There is no autosaved deal copy.
Unexpected control resultStop using the output, retain the synthetic reproduction and notify the pilot owner. Do not work around a blocker.
07
Pilot operating rules
- Owner-only access; do not share the link or files.
- Synthetic or explicitly approved sanitized data only.
- No live credit decision may depend on this pilot.
- No more than five original documents per internal-Opus chat or packet; one deal per chat and packet.
- Never convert a warning or blocker into favorable prose without the linked evidence or approved disposition.
- Keep every output marked Draft until the exact gates and current-revision attestations pass.
- Store downloaded work only in an approved bank location and clear the local session when finished.
